Happy 3rd Birthday, Laci!

Well, today Laci Jo is 3 years old. To think it all started on Easter Sunday evening, March 27, 2005. As we had been spending the day with family, our last stop that day was my grandma's. When we decided to head home, my mom jokingly says "see you later at the hospital" and then laughs. Well, we got home, got Madison to bed, and Terry and I relaxed for a little while in the living room. Around 9:00 p.m., we both decide we are ready for bed. Terry goes into the bathroom and as I get up from sitting in the recliner, I can tell my water broke. So I tell him, "Guess what? We aren't going to bed, we are going to the hospital." Terry calls his parents, so they come up to stay with Madison. I try calling Cathy on every line she can be reached at and can't get her. (She was to be in the delivery room.) I call Mom and she freaks because she wants to know about Madison, etc. I tell her to just keep trying to get ahold of Cathy and meet us at the hospital. So Laci was born early Monday, March 28, 2005 and she arrived 3 weeks early. So she has been causing drama since the day she arrived on earth!

Today she went to the babysitter's while Mom and Dad worked. Then for supper, she decided she wanted to go eat Chinese. So we went because she wanted rice, crab rangoons, and sweet and sour sauce. Needless to say, she ate mostly sweet and sour sauce.

Last year for her birthday, she got her cousin (my niece) Kendall. Kendall was one today also. So tomorrow we are celebrating Kendall's birthday with family and friends. Sunday we will be celebrating Laci's birthday with family. The theme is High School Musical. Laci walks around saying, "I like Troy Bolton". Yeah, she is only 3!

Little Artists

So I snuck a little picture of the girls coloring today. At least they found something to do other than fight with each other or watch tv. I am hoping that Spring arrives tomorrow, but I see more snow could be in our forecast! Geez, I need a warm, tropical vacation. Too bad I didn't win the lottery this past Saturday!

Mommies in Training

Too cute! Look at these two girls of mine, they are cuddling and holding their dollies today and acting like little mommies.
We had a short discussion yesterday with Laci because she thinks there are two babies in Mommy's belly. I think the reasoning behind this is because Madison wants a baby brother and Laci wants a baby sister. Terry even said to Laci last night that it would be nice to have a baby boy and she didn't even agree with him which is unusual.

My little alarm clocks

So I am on Spring Break this week. I don't have to set the alarm at all! It goes off at 5:30 a.m., however, so Terry can get up to go to work. Ha, ha! Then I just shut it off and wait for my two little alarm clocks to come wake me up.

They have been doing pretty good yesterday and today. I think yesterday they both woke up around 8:00 a.m., but ended up watching tv in their room for a little while. (They are in the same room now and have bunk beds.) Then they finally came in and said they wanted breakfast.
Today, Madison woke up around 8:00 a.m. again. She came in and asked if she could watch tv. I told her to go out in the living room and watch it, so she wouldn't wake up Laci. Laci woke up closer to 9:00 a.m. and I am glad because she was up past 10:00 p.m. last night.

It is nice not being on any sort of schedule. We do things as we feel. I am trying not to let them watch too much tv this week either. It will be nice when it gets warmer out and all the snow is melted, so they can get outside and not watch tv all day.

Yesterday, I was somewhat productive because I got the laundry done. Today, I am hoping to get some of the school work I brought home with me done when the girls are napping. Then I can finish it tomorrow. Thursday, I think I am going to go have lunch with Jenny Heyer and then Friday, we are going to Cedar Rapids with Terry's niece. She is getting married in August and Madison is the flower girl. So we are going to Cedar Rapids to get Madison's dress picked out.

Another Snow Day

So I got the call this morning that we have a 2-hour delay, so I slept in a bit. At around 7:30 a.m., I woke up and started to get ready. I got Madi up at 8:20 a.m., so she could eat breakfast and get ready for preschool. 10 minutes later, I get the call that school is cancelled. GEEZ!! I couldn't believe it! So the girls and I played! Just another day to add to the end!! At least I got caught up on the laundry and was able to relax because I was caught up with school work also!

Hoping for Spring

So I am truly hoping for spring soon! I don't see an end in sight with this winter. The mounds of snow on my trek to the babysitter's are ever looming. We, so far, have missed 7 school days which will be added to the end of the year. So our end date at this point is June 4th being the last day of school and teachers will have to go back on June 5th for a workday. We anticipate starting our next school year on August 12th. Whatever happened to teachers having THREE months off for summer? HA - Whatever! If we miss anymore days, they will just be added on and the end of school will move farther into June. And some schools are in worse shape than us.

One morning as I ventured out to the babysitter's with the girls, I was wondering what I was even doing on the roads. We had a 2-hour delay that day and the roads were still horrible. The babysitter's husband met me at the end of their driveway because he said I would get stuck. He took the girls from me at the road and off I went to school. I am glad we went to school that day because it is one less to make up, but even a bus got stuck that morning.

We had this past Friday off and the only good part was I didn't have to call in because Laci was sick. She was sick most of the day Friday, all of Saturday, and still not 100% today. She will be three the end of March and still doesn't have one of her 2-year molars. I wonder if they are causing pain too and added with the sickness, she is a bear to deal with. She goes into fits at the drop of a hat because everything seems so life-altering. The big upset tonight was that she had to stop playing computer games and let Madison have a turn. I am hoping that being three doesn't bring worse because it did with Madison. I am ready for the calm to come out in Laci. She can be so sweet sometimes, but watch out when she gets mad or upset. Tonight she threw a toy and tried to hit me. Of course, we are trying to tell her that is not the right thing to do, but it is pretty hard to reason with her when she is throwing one of her tantrums. Maybe Spring will help her too! We can only hope.

I have heard though that we are supposed to get more snow in March than we did in February. Let's hope they are WRONG!!! (My brother, Mark, bought a snowmobile this winter, so I am partially blaming him!)
